How to Setup a User for the Local 11 VPN with Meraki
1. Login to the Meraki Portal and select the Network: Local 11 Lucas.
2. Select Security & SD-WAN and then Client VPN.
3. Select Add New User and fill out the new user form as shown. Authorized MUST be set to YES.
On the User’s Computer:
4. Open Start Menu > Search "VPN" > Click Change virtual private networks (VPN)
5. From the VPN settings page, click Add a VPN connection.
6. In the Add a VPN connection dialog:
Set the VPN provider to Windows (built-in)
Provide a Connection name for the VPN connection (Local 11 VPN)
Enter the public IP address of the Local 11 security device: 64.60.42.126
Select L2TP/IPsec with pre-shared key for the VPN type
Provide a Username and Password (Users email and password created in the portal.)
7. After the VPN connection has been created, click Change adapter options under Related settings.
8. Right click on the VPN Connection from the list of adapters and click Properties.
9. In the Security tab, select "Require encryption (disconnect if sever declines)" under Data encryption.
Then, select Allow these protocols under Authentication. From the list of protocols, check "Unencrypted password (PAP)", and uncheck all other options.
Despite the name "Unencrypted PAP", the client's password is sent encrypted over an IPsec tunnel between the client device and the MX. The password is fully secure and never sent in clear text over either the WAN or the LAN.
10. Click on "Advanced settings"
In Advanced Properties dialog box, choose "Use preshared key for authentication" and enter:

11. Back at the Network Connections window, right-click on the VPN connection and click Connect / Disconnect.
Find your VPN profile and click Connect.
Enter your username and password.
Click OK.
12. Once connected the user may connect to the RDP using local IP address: 10.1.1.7
