Best Practice

Using the Add Activity Participation tool is an alternative to entering activity data via a guided search or list of workers. It is best used when the data being entered is for a group of workers not easily found via a guided search or list, such as participation tracking for a general membership meeting or city-wide committee meeting.

Note: This tool can only be used to enter activity data for one activity step at a time.

Using the Add Activity Participation Tool

To navigate to the Add Activity Participation tool, click on the Activities dropdown menu on the tool bar on the left-hand side of the screen and select Add Activity Participation.

On the Add Activity Participation screen, there are two sections:

  1. The Select Activity dropdown menu. This is where we will select the activity that we are entering participation data for.
  2. The filter fields. Here is where we will enter a worker’s identifying info in order to mark off their participation for the chosen activity.

Using the Select Activity dropdown menu, select the activity step to enter data for. This can be done by either scroll through the list of activities or typing the name of the activity step in order to find it. 

Note: the search function will only look at activity steps, not the title of the activity.

Once the activity has been selected, enter a given worker’s identifying information (name, ID number, classification, etc) and click Find to pull up the worker under the Update Worker Participation section of the screen. 

Note: Data can be entered for multiple workers by using the Employer & Department search.

On the right-hand side of the search results will be the selected activity step. Enter the activity participation data for one or multiple workers and then click the save button (shaped like a floppy disk) to save the data entry.

Note: clicking save will reset the search, so make sure to enter the data for all workers before hitting save next to any worker. It doesn’t matter which save button you click, so long as you click one before navigating away from the Add Activity Participation page.
