100% Union Revamp - part 1

• Major change: The “Member” field in SePuede Organize is changing from a Yes/No to have 4 categories. This will help organizers easily identify workers who need to sign cards. "Need to sign," made up of membership Targets, will be the most common one for organizers especially in Right To Work shops. See the image below.

  • Other Non-Member
  • Active Member

• Minor changes: 
  • “Non Member – New Member” status is now called “Non Member – Pending”
  • The Member field will no longer show up on every Guided search by default.
  • The 100% Union Card field will now only show organizer entered data.

This is phase one of two. Further updates will adjust status reports and metrics to include these new membership categories.

• Employer search: Previously, if you chose to search by Employer & Department, but didn't fill in any employers, reports would fail. This bug has been fixed.

• Reports: An option for SSRS reports has ben added to the left sidebar under "Reports." This will only contain reports if you have requested custom reports in this format.

Bug fixes:

• Page numbers: Page numbers on the bottom of the report should no longer be cut off (which was happening for some printers.)
• Contact info: When saving contact info, SePuede will now make sure that each person has at least one Preferred phone.
• Guided search: It's now easier to remove employers from the Guided Search screen.

Improvements:

• Copy Activities, Steps, Details: You can now copy a whole Activity, or an individual Activity Step (with its details). Look for this copy icon:
  
• New report options: We now have optional columns that can be added to your status report templates for more details on leadership. Reach out to support@unitehere.org if you want these added to any of your reports! These columns are:
  • # Shop Stewards
  • # Activists
  • # and % Followers of Targets (potential coverage if targets are recruited)

• Membership Statuses: The Membership Status formerly known as "NonMember - New Member" on the Organizing side of SePuede, will now be shown as "NonMember - Pending," since that's what most people call it.
• Leadership Structure Grouping: In the search results, if you search for multiple employers and then group by leadership, the leaders will first be organized by Employer.

Improvements:

• Add Activity Participation: On popular request, when using the Add Activity Participation too, you can now save activity participation for multiple workers at a time, not just one.

Performance:

• Performance: Starting this week, SePuede will stop doing constant “background scanning” to keep its counts up to date with changes to the leadership structure, added workers, removed workers, changed employments, turf updates, etc. It will instead do one full catchup every 10 minutes.
  
  This means counts will be out of date for a few minutes. You can also force it to catch up right away by pushing the “update worker counts” button.” Click here for instructions on how to do that. 
  
  For example: My Turf shows that I have 1 committee at the Marriott. Then, I enter 2 more committee. If I immediately look at Marriott in My Turf, it will still show 1 committee, instead of the 3 that I really have, until the next full sync-up completes (in 10 minutes or less). It will be the same if I run a status report before the counts run - it would still show only 1 committee.
  
  You will be able to see on the homepage when the counts were last run, like this:
  
  

Bug fixes:

• Preferred Phone: All workers now have a preferred phone.
• Just My Turf: Fixed an issue where workers with secondary employments in shops in your turf weren't showing up based on a name search.

• Leadership Grouping: In the search results, you can now Group by Leadership when filtering by Campaign, Organizer, Team, or Industry
• Change Logs: ongoing minor UI improvements.
• Mobile Commons feed: Improvements to the full sync for mobile commons (waiting to re-run these feeds soon).

Bug fixes:

• Activities: Clickthroughs from the Activity Dashboard page will now load properly.
• Multi-select fields: Fixed a bug where removing data from a multi-select dropdown field would not save properly.
• Update Worker Counts: Now shows it has completed without needing to refresh the page 
• Leadership structure: Data fix to remove terminated workers who were remaining in the organizing structure unnecessarily; code fix to make sure committee groupings work properly.

• Leadership: Bug fixed that was causing some leaders not to appear on status reports.
• Mobile app: Bug fixed that was causing it to be possible to add duplicate leaderships in the Mobile app.

Improvements:

• Change Logs: We have a new Change Logs tab on each worker's profile. You can see a history of the changes that have been made to that worker, including Employment, Leadership, Contact Info, Activities, Membership Status, Demographics, and more.
• Preferred Name: The field used to be called "Informal Name" in some places, and is now consistently "Preferred Name."
• Mobile Commons: It's now possible to run a full sync for Mobile Commons data, solving an issue where workers whose phone numbers were last updated more than 2 years ago weren't syncing properly. We will be further testing this and rolling it out local by local.

Bug fixes:

• Status Reports: Fixed an issue where Key Leader abbreviation was showing up incorrectly in some status reports run by the turf panel. 
• Leadership structure: Fixed two data issues that created a buggy experience when editing and reporting on certain leaderships.

• Search Results: Layout. New layout option to see just Employer name (without department & classification)
• Citizenship field: Now, blank values in the citizenship field will show as blank, instead of as "No."

Bug fixes:

• Remove Worker: Fixed issue where it was possible to remove already-inactive employments.
• Leadership structure: Fixed issue where drag-and-drop was allowing Key Leaders to be assigned to Committee.
• Leadership structure: Fixed issue where some former committee leaders were showing follower counts, even though they no longer actually have followers assigned in the system. 
• Add Activity Participation: Fixed issue where dates were showing one day late in this section of the app.
• Status Reports: Fixed issue where organizers with parentheses in their names () were getting zeroes on some sections of status reports.

• Build a Report: filters are more easily removed when many are selected at one time
• Leadership: fixed issue where users were unable to edit the leadership of a worker who leads committee with multiple employments with followers at each employment
• Worker Profile: Add Address: the 'suggested address' pop-up no longer displays when the entered address exactly matches an address already present in the worker profile
• Editing Activities: Adding a new option to single-select activity dropdowns no longer fills that option in when entering data on a search window that was open before adding the new option

Improvements:

• Layouts: There is now a field for Preferred Name + Last Name with no First Name
• Employer Profile: Print Department Structure: There is now an option to print department structures on the department structure tab of an employer profile
• A new feature: Campaigns!
  • Campaigns are made up of employers that have been grouped together for a larger action such as a contract fight or a strike. They are created and edited in the Local Configuration settings of Se Puede.
  • Currently, campaigns are assigned to employers on the employer profile page.
  • Campaigns can be used in both the Search Filters and Layouts as well as Report Filters

Bug fixes:

• Tracked Turf: Adding an employer to tracked turf will immediately display employer with data fields without need for page refresh
• Build a Search: Demographics and Political sections of the Edit Layout menu no longer appear nested under the Activity Participation section
• Guided Search: Leadership structure is now available under the Group dropdown after running a search
• Add Activity Participation: Multiselect fields now display all options properly
• Worker Profile: Activities: fixed a bug where activity data was not displaying properly

• Additional sort options added for Employment Type (Full-Time, Part-Time, On-Call and Hire Date
• Activity tab in worker record will now more quickly and cleanly display activity participation for activities with large amounts of participation data

Bug fixes:

• Status Reports: Number of workers returned by report now matches number of workers returned by search results when filtering by inactive employment status
• Build a Report: Just My Turf toggle no longer extends all the way across the screen
• Reactivate Employment: Fixed issue where employments that were terminated in IO but not in Membership were unable to be reactivated in IO
• Search Filters: Removed second instance of "Team" filter that was present under Leadership/Organizing section

Improvements:

• Sort by Activity Details - this means we can sort by any of the custom text, dates, numbers, etc that we enter as Activity Details. For example, sorting by whether workers are attending the AM or PM committee meeting, or by the number of hours they have picketed.
• Add Followers: you will now see workers' Classification as well as their Employer/Department, to help with larger shops.

Bug fixes:

• Status Reports: Organizer with Employer grouping was showing extra lines due to workers having multiple jobs; this has been fixed.
• Shift Times: there were issues saving AM and PM properly from certain pages; this has been fixed.
• Edit Staff Structure was freezing when adding a new staff followers; this has been fixed.
  
• Spanish Translation was fixed for Rapid Activity Entry
• In certain cases there were problems re-activating employments when a worker had 2 former employments; this has been fixed.

Sept 15, 2023

Improvements:

• Everywhere that you search for workers by name (for example, Add Followers, Add Leaders, Update Staff Structure), you will now be able to search by name fragments, across all parts of the name. For example, searching "Reen Har" will pull up "Katie (Kathreen) Harrison". Before, it wasn't consistent across all parts of the app.
• Everywhere you search for workers by name, you will now be able to search by SePuede ID.
• When entering Activity Data, you'll get a warning if you try to navigate away from the page without saving.

Bug fixes:

• Saved Searches were sometimes not expanding properly to show all info; this has been fixed.

Back end:

• The dev team has access to better alerts when some of our large data jobs fail.

Improvements:

• Search by Team: you can now search for all workers covered by a specific lead or director's team, or run a status report based on this. Screenshot here. 
• Update Activity Participation (aka "Rapid Activity Entry") Tool has been improved. This tool is meant for staff entering data from sign-in sheets and other randomly arranged and hard to read data. Screenshot here. Upgrades:
  • you can enter data for multiple activity steps at once
  • you can run the search by hitting "Enter"
  • you can see more search results on a single page (up to 200)

August 25, 2023

Improvements:

• More space on Search Results: there is now a Show/Hide toggle at the top right of the Search Results page that will give you more space to see your list of workers. It does this by hiding the Search Control Panel (where you change layouts, filters, sort, etc).
• New Status Reports - you can now download status reports broken down by Industry. You can choose this under the Grouping menu when you build a new status report.
• LOA Status: we can now search by LOA Status and add it to layouts
• Activities: when adding activities to your Search Filters, Layout, or Rapid Activity Entry screen, you can now select or deselect the whole activity at once (all steps and details). This should make it a little easier to set up a search.

• Manage Leadership should be working MUCH more easily - the search will now allow searching on name fragments.
• Feed to Mobile Commons is now able to send Employer ID in addition to Employer Name, at the request of Comms department. This will enable cleaner and simpler list targeting in Mobile Commons. We need to do a full refresh of the SePuede to Mobile Commons data before this can be used.
• Can print leadership grouping without the leadership column in the layout

• Data fix cleaning up workers with followers & no leader role
• Preferred/Informal names should be displaying correctly

SePuede Mobile had a big upgrade: the layout you are using will stay in effect until you change it. This makes data entry much easier.

In SePuede Web, we have several bug fixes related to the new, faster search results that rolled out in May, which is called AG Grid. Please let us know at support@unitehere.org if you continue to have problems with search results or entering activity data.

Improvements:

• Status reports: When status reports have an error, you will now be notified with a red error code that you can use to report the issue and get help. 
• Status Reports: when downloaded from the dashboard, they will now have more descriptive titles.
• Update Activity Sort Order: in the Activity Dashboard, Activities are now sorted with
• You can now navigate through entering activity data using the keyboard, including TAB to navigate between steps, and SPACEBAR to check off activity.

Bug fixes:

• Quick search: names are no longer getting stuck when loading 
• Enter and Save Activity Data: errors entering activity data should be fixed.

Individual local data fixes:

• L26: Workers with a leader in two employments will now display correctly
