User Guide: Zoom Basics

This user guide will explain the basic functions of Zoom and highlights the functions that are helpful when facilitating a meeting. For a downloadable version of this guide, click here.

Logging In

Per the Zoom website: You can sign into your Zoom account on the web at any time, at zoom.us/signin. Once you're logged in, use the panel on the left side to navigate the Zoom web portal. You can update your profile, schedule a meeting, edit your settings, and more.

Joining a Meeting

Accessing Basic Controls

Share Screen

Record a meeting

Meetings can be recorded to the cloud or to the host’s computer.

Breakout Rooms

These allow for smaller group discussion and are best utilized when set up in advance, but they can be created mid-meeting as well. Find out more here- https://youtu.be/GDKJM6JhyUY

Troubleshooting (camera and microphone)

Whiteboard

It can be helpful to draw an image to better explain an idea. The whiteboard allows for rea-time sharing of ideas from both the host and participants (if the host so chooses). Follow this video for more information- https://youtu.be/0bRzpVhd4VE.

Closed Captions
