Quarantined email and reporting spam email

The quarantine message you received is new as a part of our transition to Office 365. Any message caught by Microsoft's email filter is either stopped and held or delivered to your Junk folder. Once a day, you will receive this message to review quarantined emails. We recommend you review these quarantine emails regularly, along with your Junk folder, to make sure nothing important is getting missed! After 20 days, the quarantine is cleared.

An example quarantine email below:

Click Review Message to be taken to the quarantine folder online.

There are three things to know to improve our spam filtering:

  1. Once in the quarantine folder, click on the item you want to review or click the check box next to the item(s) and choose one of the actions at the top of the list. Depending on how many emails are selected, the options are to release or request a release, delete the message, preview the message, or allow or block the sender. Not every option may be available for every message or every user. Anything in light grey is unavailable.
  1. If you're in your Junk folder, you can click the "It’s not junk" button to keep these messages out of Junk in the future. These are reviewed by IT regularly to train the filter. Once it's been reviewed, you'll see a confirmation email.
  1. Finally, use the Report button on the ribbon to flag any spam or phishing emails that make it to your inbox. The report button is our new method for reporting these, rather than sending them to the support center. Click the dropdown arrow to choose between reporting a phishing email or a junk email.
